2026 Outrigger Canoe (OC6) Race Crews

The Kelowna Paddle Centre (KPC) offers opportunities for all levels of paddling to explore outrigger canoe (OC6) racing. Our aim is to build a well rounded club environment that provides opportunities for newer paddlers to improve their skills and learn from more experienced paddlers, while at the same time supporting and encouraging competitive racing.

KPC is home to crews that compete at the local, national, and international levels. We offer a range of programs to ensure all paddlers have the opportunity to race within competitive crews while still encouraging recreational paddling for those who wish to participate in a more relaxed capacity.

OC6 Crew Selection for Races/Events

Whether you are new to outrigger paddling or a veteran, there are racing opportunities for all members who are interested.

For our newer paddlers, there is no need to be intimidated as we all started where you were at some point. We recommend you start with one of the many shorter distance events first before advancing to longer events.

The OC6 Committee hopes to see more crews out there representing KPC at various races this season.

Like last year, the OC6 Committee has decided to use a combination of self-selected crews and club-selected crews.

About one month before an event you will receive an electronic sign-up form via e-mail for that specific event.  You will have five days to fill out the form.  Upcoming events will be posted on a board outside the female change room.  If you do not receive an e-mail for sign-up please notify a staff member.

In order for this to work it is imperative that ALL INTERESTED paddlers fill in the electronic sign-up form, otherwise the Committee will have no idea as to the number of boats required, if self-selected crews have open seats to fill, the number of paddlers interested in club-selected crews, etc.

For 2026, we  anticipate interest from KPC crews in the following races:

March 28 & 29 – March Madness, Vancouver.

May 9 & 10 – CORA OC Sprints Championships, Burnaby.

May 16 – Duel in the Desert, Penticton.

May 23 – Jericho Iron, Vancouver.

June 20 – FLCC River Run, Fort Langley.

June 28 – Freshwater Challenge, Vernon.

July 26 – Lotus Iron, Burnaby.

September 19 & 20 – CORA National Outrigger Championships, Fort Langley.
