Volunteer Opportunities at the Kelowna Paddle Centre
Being more involved at KPC makes your own experience that much more fulfilling!
As a non-profit society, we rely on volunteers to help deliver our programs & events, to keep the centre well maintained, and much more. Read on to learn about the many ways you can support KPC by volunteering.
Join a Committee
We have a number of committees that are actively involved in running the Kelowna Paddle Centre. If you are interested in a specific area, joining a committee is a great way to get involved and make a difference. Current committees include Events, Maintenance & Repairs, Safety, Programs, Coaching, Outrigger Canoe Racing, Human Resources, and Marketing.
Interested in joining a committee? Please email our GM, Fraser McIntosh, at fraser@kelownapaddlecentre.ca and he will put you in touch with the right people!
Join the Board of Directors
As a non-profit society, the Board of Directors is essential to KPC and one of the most impactful ways that members can get involved. We are always looking for new directors to join the board as current members’ terms revolve, and it’s a great next step for those already serving on a committee.
If you are interested in joining the board, and especially if you have experience or expertise in fundraising, the law or civic politics, we want you! Please email Dennis Silvestrone at dennis@kelownapaddlecentre.ca.
Events
We host a number of events each season that require a strong team of volunteers. 2025 includes the Waterman Paddle Fest, World Tour Paddling Film Festival, Pandosy Waterfront Festival, and Light Up the Lake. There are many ways to help out during events so they are a great time to support the centre, take part in our programs, and socialize.
We typically put out a volunteer call in advance of events, with a volunteer coordinator who helps organize roles and schedules. Check the club and events boards at KPC for opportunities.
Camp Programs & Summer Operations
Teen interested in volunteering with our youth summer camp programs are encouraged to first enroll in the Expedition program. Strong candidates may then assist with programs while receiving support with further training.
Please email camps@kelownapaddlecentre.ca for more information.
General volunteers to help around the centre are also appreciated. This is also a good way to gain leadership experience on a more flexible schedule. General volunteers enhance all of the activities offered at KPC by helping our coaches and staff focus on program delivery!

Coaching
Quality programs require quality coaches. Whether you are an experienced coach or aspiring to be one, we would love to have you help deliver programs at the Kelowna Paddle Centre.
Volunteer-led classes are scheduled according to coach availability and designed to fit each coach’s interests and expertise. Let us know your ideas for programs that you’d like to help with!
Email coach@kelownapaddlecentre.ca for more info.
Equipment & Repairs
Our fleet of boards and boats requires regular upkeep to stay in top shape. Helping with repairs and maintenance is a great way to support KPC on a flexible schedule. We can even help you to learn about boat maintenance and practice repairs on some of our older equipment.
For more information, please email coach@kelownapaddlecentre.ca.
Facility Maintenance
Some of our most important volunteers are those who help to keep the centre itself well taken care of and in working order. Our fall and spring clean up parties are important events for the centre’s upkeep (and the most popular time to volunteer). You can sign up through our online registration system.
We also appreciate anyone with professional skills or trades who can help with repairs if and when needed. If you’d like to be added to our contact list of tradespeople, please email fraser@kelownapaddlecentre.ca.
