14 paddlers from KPC are already qualified to race in the Elite and Club world sprint championships next August in Singapore, including our Junior Racing Program crew. We are already travel planning and have discovered that the 2026 Championships are not only going to be an incredible experience in Singapore, but also very affordable with the right planning:
- Races are being held on Marina Bay in the heart of downtown Singapore. Paddlers will be able to experience some of the best Singapore has to offer even on days they are racing.
- Some of the best street food in the world is within walking distance, with many stalls having Michelin stars or bib-gourmand distinctions.
- The world famous gardens by the bay are impossible to miss.
- Clarke Quay, Raffles, Little India, museums, galleries, and many other highlights are walkable or just a short hop on transit.
- As of October 6th, return airfare is less than $1,400 for the most direct route from Kelowna (1 stop in Vancouver) and there should be many upcoming opportunities to snag an even cheaper seat sale.
- Southeast Asia is a backpacking hotspot, so there’s plenty of clean, comfortable, and cheap accommodations within walking distance or a short transit trip from the races. Pod hotels can accommodate your entire crew with everyone getting their own bed and private space for less than $60 per person per night!
- It’s super easy to eat healthy and cheap in Singapore with amazing street food and hawker markets. We are recommending that our youth crews plan for just $40 per day for expenses, including meals and transit. That’s just $100 a day with accommodations!
