Wondering how to get started or which programs are for you? This guide can help recommend classes that will be a good fit.
FOR THOSE NEW KPC
We offer New Member Orientation every Saturday and Sunday at 10:30am. These are a great way to learn how to make the most out of your membership and everything KPC has to offer.
Afterwards, catch an 11am class with Surfski Accreditation on Saturdays or Recreational Outrigger Canoe (OC6) on Sundays.
FOR THOSE NEW TO PADDLING
Our classes focus on five kinds of paddling. Which are you most interested in?
OUTRIGGER CANOEING WITH A GROUP/CREW
- Recreational Outrigger Canoe (OC6) is a drop-in class held 4 times each week that is open to all experience levels. This is an easy way to try out paddling with a crew and to meet other paddlers.
- Outrigger Academy Level I is a 6-week program that covers everything a beginner paddler needs to paddle safely and cohesively as part of a six-person crew. Paddlers will finish the program well-prepared for most of our other OC6 classes and programs.
SOLO OUTRIGGER CANOEING
- Solo Outrigger & Va’a (OC1/V1) Accreditation is required prior to booking out KPC’s one- and two-person outrigger canoes and va’as. Classes are held Saturday afternoons.
SURFSKI
- Surfski Accreditation is required prior to booking out KPC’s surfskis. Classes are held Saturday mornings.
PADDLEBOARDING (SUP)
- Thursday Morning Paddleboard (SUP) is a one-hour class offered weekly this season. This class will be a mix of relaxation, paddling skills, and fitness depending upon the class composition and conditions on the lake.
